" English is fun for little ones"

As the world moves forward into the current global-educational context and information tecnology era, the demand for learning English has intensified.

A foreign language learner is likely to be more successful if they spend time being immersed in the language and culture of the language they are learning.

Today, for increasing numbers of children and young adults who have and are still learning ESL (English as a Second Language), regular schools and early childhood centres also need teachers who have the requisite knowledge and skills to teach it, regardless of whether they teach across the curriculum, specialise in English or teach in specific disciplines.

Therefore, the Project "English is fun for little ones" is aneducational alternative to the current system of teaching English in our public school Instituto Educativo Julio Perez Ferrero.

This project recognises the growing importance of teachers being able to teach English as a second foreign language in classrooms today. It is designed to help preservice teachers and others who have an interest in English language and literacy to understand second language learning and development; also to develop knowledge, skills and understanding to support effective cross-cultural communication and to learn about implement second language pedagogy for all teachers in addition to the language specialists.

In developing this plan for bilingual education in our school, raising awareness will be achieved and increase the influence of the learning environment on students language learning.

In terms of access to Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), language learning software, email, internet and web-based learning to enhance communication in English.

Finally, this teaching strategy helps advance the development of the student from kindergarten through fifth grade; moreover, in conceptualising the role of language teachers as leaders of language programs and the student as a developing independent language learner who needs to use the language in a purposeful way.
